This tutorial will show you how to install Speex codec on a MOR server with CentOS 64bit:
First install speex, speex devel and speex tools:
Centos 5 case:
rpm -ivh http://dl.atrpms.net/el5-x86_64/atrpms/testing/speex-1.2-0.11.rc1.el5.x86_64.rpm rpm -ivh http://dl.atrpms.net/el5-x86_64/atrpms/testing/speex-devel-1.2-0.11.rc1.el5.x86_64.rpm rpm -ivh http://dl.atrpms.net/el5-x86_64/atrpms/testing/speex-tools-1.2-0.11.rc1.el5.x86_64.rpm
Centos 6 case:
yum install speex.x86_64 speex-devel.x86_64 speex-tools.x86_64
Afterwards recompile asterisk, locate your Asterisk source directory in:
cd /usr/src/ASTERISKSOURCES
Start recompiling:
./configure
make menuconfig ->make sure Asterisk caught speex codec
make
cp /usr/src/ASTERISK_SOURCE_DIR/codecs/codec_speex.so /usr/lib/asterisk/modules/
asterisk -vrx 'module load codec_speex.so'
Congratulations you have installed Speex codec on Asterisk!
